I have used hotels.com for a long time

I have used hotels.com for a long time. I've never had any problems with them. I recently had 6 hotels booked with them starting the beginning of May. I wouldn't of even been back from my holiday yet and they have already refunded. Very impressed with their customer service.

No problems so far .....

I've booked many hotels with Hotels.com for me and my extended family. I depend on the free reward nights and so far I think I've used about 5 of them. We've stayed in various destinations including London City, Blackpool, Majorca, Chessington WoA, Birmingham City. The reviews of the hotels we've stayed in had accurate/fair comments and we've not had any major shocks or problems. I had one problem once with a room but I was able to sort it without extra charges where I'd booked a room for 2a 1ch then wanted to bring an extra child, but it was ok as I'd booked a family room anyway.

Happy but should be a consistent service

In my case I am very happy with hotels.com as they refunded me fairly quickly without any issues, but after a lengthy call. But having read the other reviews on here it is unfortunate that isn’t the case for everyone so maybe I got lucky early on

This is the main site I use.

This is the site I use when booking hotels independently. They have a price match, which I have claimed on, though everything has to match for it to be valid. They have a good rewards scheme of ‘free’ nights, though there is now a small fee for this, unless you use the app. The site is easy to use and navigate, and has a good range of hotels of varying types. I do, like other hotel websites, have doubts on the supposed savings, as they do seem inflated, so I would not pay too much attention to this. I go by if I think the price is reasonable or not.

Actually, Hotels.com handling virus situation better than most agents

I've been relatively happy with Hotels.com and the way they have dealt with COVID-19, especially when compared to other agents I have used in the last few months.Whilst it took me a while to find the process, I managed to cancel 3 hotel bookings connected with a US trip in April. Two of them had been booked as non-cancellable rates, so I was very impressed that Hotels.com chose to allow cancellation and refund due to the unforeseen circumstances. I have received 2 of the 3 refunds to my credit card - so as long as the 3rd one comes through soon, then I'll be happy.The key to Hotels.com's approach has been to enable chatbots to process refunds/cancellations, thereby meaning there's no need to speak to an agent - which is very difficult due to the volume of calls.If you have a booking that needs to be cancelled, try the chatbot on their website, rather than waiting in a frustrating call centre queue.UPDATED 15/5/20 - my 3rd refund has come through now, so well done Hotels.com. This means I have had a full refund for 3 separate bookings affected by the pandemic, and all were processed online. A lesson for some other booking agents who have let customers down, and proof that refunds can indeed be processed on a huge scale even during the challenges of the virus scenario.

Finally a travel company treating customers well

I only ever usually think to review if I've had a bad experience - but given that during Covid, customer service is setting apart the good companies from the bad I felt it was important to highlight some good too. My hotel was closed and so cancelled bookings... I logged in to Hotels.com and once within the correct time frame (they were working 1 month ahead i believe) I was able to apply for the full cash refund absolutely hassle free using their live chat tool. They confirmed that I would receive a refund within 30 days both on email and on the live chat. Compared to other travel sites which have involved lengthy phone calls, endless arguments about credit and force majeure - this was a breath of fresh air and honestly felt like a weight off my shoulders.

Happy with service

Had to cancel my hotel in Orlando for May due to covoid, cancelled online on April 6th, received full refund into my account on April 23rd so earlier than the 30 days they estimated, thanks for that

The worst customer service i have ever…

The worst customer service i have ever received. Every other company in the last few weeks has just accepted the pandemic situation is causing a horrendous amount of problems but Hotels.com are still squeezing out every penny they possibly can. By having everything based on the phone lines the only option online is to cancel outright, which is fine if you have a refundable room booked but if you don't you need to speak with someone. I've called so many times I can't count, but the latest time I spent over an hour waiting for someone to pick up, they told me I'd gone through to the USA and they can't help me so I was transferred again. This time to an automated service (where I've already been through once and typed in my details) where I'm told I shouldn't be contacting them until 72 hours before and i was cut off. So over 100 minutes later I've made no progress at all and still have no way of cancelling the booking.This is after trying to call and being cut off immediately, told the lines are having technical problems, no responses to emails and no reply on webchat either over the last 2 weeks. It's impossible to contact them and if other people's comments are anything to go by they seem to be having some extreme difficulties or literally couldn't care any less. Either way after using them for work for the last 5 years and accruing many benefits I will never use them again and neither will my colleagues. Clearly they weren't equipped with the facilities to deal with this pandemic but most of us weren't and everyone else seems to be muddling through just fine. So disappointed after using them for so longEdit: I have updated my review from 1 to 3 stars. Eventually I was allowed to speak with customer services and they refunded the trip, but this did come with some hesitation because i wasn't travelling to a specific part of Austria so they were reluctant, even though the UK won't allow travel there and Austria wouldn't have let us in! From the starter to the dessert the quality and taste of everything were outstanding, my Shrimp Dynamite, Mongolian Beef…might have been the best meal we have been served-everything we tasted melted in other mouths. …Highly recommended.
