Over the last three years I've bought a frameset, numerous parts and now a complete bike. I've never had anything other than great service and have been very happy indeed with the quality and value. Nothing has ever gone wrong so I don't know what the after sales service is like but I do know once you go away from online ordering they are difficult to contact, web chat is the only option (I wanted to amend an order)

Top customer service, fair prices without "brand-surcharge", admirable expertise and dedication in their market field!

I have not had many experiences with Planet-X, but all of them have been extremely positive. To start with, the bikes (including complete bikes and frames) are priced at just ridiculously low, which put me wondering how it's possible. Well, that's because they sell them at the actual value and not trying to snatch as much profit as possible, like some well-known brands. Actually, what's the point of paying a massive extra amount of money that doesn't provide the customer with any addition to the quality of the product but that amount only serves for the company to grow (think it as a small investment in the company)? I've never been a fan of such school of thought, although knowing that it's one of the core principles of modern capitalism. The low prices are also based on ordering large quantities from the supplier. This was kindly clarified to me by Stephen from Planet-X customer service, when I was digging a bit deeper while asking details about an item I was about to order. I don't think many other companies would be such open and transparent to share those details. What's more, it's not that all of their item are dirt-cheap. For instance, a simple plastic rear derailleur hanger was 30€, but this is because they are made by a specialist in the UK. So there's a reason why they're more expensive as the cost of labor is higher than, say, in Taiwan. Speaking of Taiwan, it turned out that their titanium frames come from same suppliers than many other European brands selling them at double or triple the cost.Most often it's easy to reach the customer service via the chat, again something not offered by many other online bike shops when I usually have to wait a couple or a few days to get an answer, whereas I receive one in 10 minutes from Planet-X. I want to say I'm by no means affiliated with Planet-X. Before knowing much about them, I thought it's a company that should be avoided at all costs. Surely, there had to be something suspect with such low prices; either poor quality of the products or questionable labor used in the manufacturing process. There will always be rumours but another thing is whether they're true or not. I asked them questions and got answers that were in contrast to my earlier prejudice. Purely by coincidence, I have ended up having one bike from On-One and the other from Planet-X, both of them bought second-hand, for ecological reasons just like all of my previous bikes. Judging by the reviews on bike forums about the quality of the frames, I expect to have many years of pleasure riding them. I think one of the reasons why they average at less than four stars here on trustpilot is that it's predominantly a small amount of people writing about having some issues while the obvious majority is enjoying their bikes and not spending time to write about their positive experience. I think they should as this company deserves some recognition.

Great bike, but not as advertised

I recently got a Planet X Tempest.It is a beautiful bike, it just doesnt match the bike advertised on the website.When I looked at the bike, I looked at the photos and watched the video on the website (which I cannot link to in this trustpilot review). I noticed that the forks had mounting bolts, so whilst I was waiting for the bike to arrive, along with pedals, I bought some fork cages that attach to the mounting bolts seen in the video to hold bags when bike backpacking. When the bike arrived, the forks had no mounting bolts. I complained to Planet X, who said they have a disclaimer on the webpage, which they do -- "Please Note: - Bike Specifications can and do change from time to time from the specification pictured above. Please check the Full bike specification cartefully before ordering". This does not feel honest to me. I won't be buying from this company again for this reason.

Bittersweet

Extremely happy with your customer service and timeliness. Unfortunately parts on my new bike had large scrapes on them even though it was packaged well with no visible damage to the packaging upon arrival, which leads one to believe that the parts had been installed with damage already on them and it was not noticed or remedied. Time and cost of shipping make returning item undesirable.
