A Love-Hate Relationship

As you can tell by the title, I have this love-hate relationship with iFit. There are a myriad of reason as to why, which I hope to explain in detail.I am currently in my late 20's and have using iFit on/off for the past year. In 2014, I began running outdoors. I have experienced with many outdoor running app to include Nike Run Club, Zombies, Run!, MapMyRun, Strava, Runkeeper, etc. I have also experience with a plethora of devices to include Apple Watch (series 2 and 4), Fitbit (Surge), TomTom (Spark), and more.Today, my outdoor runs are simply tracked with my Apple Watch (Series 4) using the built-in Apple Workout App. I've never been a huge indoor runner, but after tirelessly dragging myself to the gym to run on an overused treadmill (which was sometimes available and sometimes a wait), I folded and began to research at-home options.ICON Health & Fitness owns iFit, as well as NordicTrack, Pro-Form, Freemotion, and more. After and extensive multi-month comparisons of iFit VS Peloton and NordicTrack VS Pro-Form VS Peloton Tread, I elected the iFit option on the NordicTrack Commercial 1750.In February 2019, I setup my machine and account with iFit. From February 2019 to about June 2019 was the time I really tried to embrace iFit. It was terrible. I found no runs that were built for advanced runners. I define myself as an advanced runner because everything on the program I could find was 7 MPH or less. I run a base of 8 MPH on distance (minimum 20 minutes) and a will go up to 12 MPH (for 30-60 second intervals) and sometimes run at 10 MPH (up to 120 second intervals). Overall, I prefer to have my runs 30-60 minutes. I found very few workout that would last this long. With no search option, I spent far too much time goin in-and-out of different screen to try and find one that would work.I noticed I was no longer enjoying the very limited library that I could apply to my runs and began running without iFit. I then started seeing my distance decrease from boredom. In November 2019, I began OrangeTheory Fitness (OTF). This got me back into running again and quickly saw PR results on my competitive races. With OTF not exactly fitting into my schedule all of the time, I started running again at home (Feb 2020).Today (March 2020), I resubscribed to iFit (note: $15/mo if you do it through the Apple Subscription and $30/mo if you do it on the Treadmill/iFit Website Subscription). I noticed some new features that really motivate me.There is now a filters option! You can look for intensity level (1-7), distance, duration, type of workout (running, HIIT, etc), coach, and more. This allowed me to quickly and easily locate a handful of runs that fit my "advanced" runner profile. I continued to notice that allowing the coaches to control my speed was still too slow (their version for an all-out effort was about 8 MPH, and that's my base). I noticed many of the distance programs stayed around 6-6.2 MPH. Thankfully, I can override that and didn't seem to have too much of a problem doing that since OTF has trained me pretty well to know where I need to be at and when. There is also now a Leaderboard so you can see in real-time (and post-workout) how you compare to other people who have completed the same workout. Being a competitive person, I found myself speed up when I saw someone was 0.1 miles to catching up to me. Overall, my first run with the Leaderboard on I placed 2nd. It felt pretty good to have that experience. The downside is, at the end, while I was following the instructor by stepping off the treadmill to stretch, I noticed other people on the Leaderboard continued running. This bumped my position. I would think that once the coach ends the workout, the Leaderboard should be deactivated to keep everyone fair.On some of the shorter location-based runs, I notice that I wanted to continue running. iFit defaults to a time screen rather than showing b-roll video. The bike part has a good mix of studio…

The bike part has a good mix of studio and road with some real pro riders. My favorite was the Tour of Utah where you basically can ride in the race. Unfortunately, the ProForm Tour De France exercise broke, but the iFit people gave me a refund for the unused part of my subscription, which I thought was pretty good

First Time Spin Bike Experience

I recently got the Proform Pro C22 spin bike and it has been a great experience getting it set up and taking my first couple rides. The iFit membership has so many options and features, and the rides have been challenging and so much fun. I had never taken a spin bike class prior to this so for a beginner they have a lot of resources to get you started. I did have some questions about the iFit membership when I first set it up and the customer service rep I spoke with was very friendly and responsive. He even gave me a few tips for using the bike since I was a beginner. Overall, I’ve been really happy with my experience with the bike and the company!I received a discounted product in exchange for my honest feedback.

I have the S22i and I love it

I have the S22i and I love it. I like the mountain bike rides with the trainers and would love to plan a trip to Chile to try some of the bike rides there after riding them virtually. I live near Moab Utah and thankful for the 22 mountain bike rides there I can try before heading out. I wish the pedals were of better quality and the bike seat, but I added different pedals and working with the seat. iFit is a lot of fun

Bought a Nordictrack commercial 1750…

Bought a Nordictrack commercial 1750 treadmill with iFit about 2-3 weeks ago...zero complaints at this point...iFit works great, bluetooth connection with Android phone was super easy...fans work great, speakers are more impressive than i expected...wife ran a "tempo" run where the guide controlled the speed and incline/decline automatically...can make your own routes using maps...all in all a great purchase...all the negative reviews i can only guess that those people did not assemble correctly or bought less expensive (less quality?) equipment
