Tax Analyst, Darlene Refici is a SUPERSTAR!

I have been using HR Block for the past five years after I moved to Florida. In ending I want to tell all of yous that I went to the HR&BLOCK Company office located at 7955 E Broadway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85710 to have my 2019 Income Tax Return Forms prepared and Patti Parrish was the person that greeted me and she's a HR&BLOCK Company Senior Tax Analyst and she told me that she would be preparing the above and I replied ok and nice meeting you ok smile. Last of all Patti Parrish was so very Professional Helpful and very Caring to me ok smile. Finally she's always such a very Positive Role Model for all young and old workers that prepare Income Tax Return Forms ok smile. I tried to do the online option-Big Fail

I tried to do the online option. I chose to upload my documents which went easy and worked. The next step was to select what office I wanted my documents to go, and I would drop off the papers at the office that was selected in the area I chose. It seemed easy enough to do online. After completing my uploading of my documents, I got the message saying my taxes were being worked on. I signed out of the site and came back, and it didn't show anything about my taxes being worked on. So I did it once again and once again I got the message my taxes were being worked on. Next day I go to the office I selected online to drop off my documents and they had no clue what I was talking about. Matter of fact the receptionist said they never accept online documents. Oh really? So they want us to make an appt. A lady came up that worked there and heard my story and she took me back to her office to see if she could help me. There were no documents uploaded to H&R Block in my account she said. I told her I know I uploaded them and I could see them on my end. I also know it was H&R Block site, not an imposter. Anyhow, we have an appt. for tomorrow to do our taxes because online is not recommended. She said it happens from time to time. What a big disappointment with their site. From the reviews I've read I see others had trouble with the online site too.

Could be better for the price

The wizard is easy to use. I like it better than TaxAct and TaxHawk. However, I decided to pay a premium for tax SW this year due to some life changes, so I was disappointed to encounter some avoidable issues using the SW. 1) the worst issue was Block’s failure to count my military retirement pay as a deduction on my OH state return (retirement pay is not taxable in OH). Block treated my retirement income as taxable on my OH state return. On the Fed wizard, Block asked if my 1099-R was for military retirement, so the SW should have known. If I would not have noticed the error, I would have paid thousands more in state taxes. 2) In some cases (e.g., state and local taxes) after you complete the wizard it shows a summary page without any information (no amounts claimed nor a statement of completion); makes you think it didn’t save your inputs. 3) asks you to input your NAICS code, but doesn’t provide a list of valid codes; had to google that. 4) No alternate entry form for interest income not reported on a 1099-INT; had to add a 1099-INT that didn’t really exist. 5) chat window covers most of the help screen. 6) after paying and prior to filing, had trouble figuring out how to print the return for review; had to click “Previous taxes” button to print this-years return-not intuitive. 7) could not find a way to leave a review on the Block website.

I used the one in Jacksonville

I used the one in Jacksonville, FL, off of Dunn Ave and Lem Turner.I'll say this, they go by the books, but their tax preparers aren't interested in helping you get the largest return possible; they just type stuff in the screen as you watch (which means you could have done the same by yourself using same program), and walla, you're done, they're done, and are disappointed with how little you get back.Previous years, with same W-4 I've gotten back over 2 gran, this year, I got back less than 120 dollars?It's as if H&R is the Government.Again, no knock against them personally, just saying their preparers aren't very creative when it comes to helping you get back a big return, they just go straight by the book and that's it.Not a bad place, but I won't go back ever again, cause tax filing use to be Xmas for me, today it was more like trick or treat, and I feel I got the trick instead of the treat.
