It’s a great platform

It’s a great platform, I prefer it than Airbnb, but not for the payments. I have been waiting 10 days to get paid, clients have already left the property, and still haven’t got the funds. Great platform, but they have the worst payment system.

Read the fine print before booking

Read the fine print before booking, on a whole it was a nice place with easy access to many things but little things added up annoying us such as strip our own beds and bag up all laundry, empty all the garbage cans, didn’t supply Kleenex, hand soap for kitchen, more than 1 roll of tp and hairdryers, toaster only toasted one side, we had to hang curtains that were stuffed in a closet, shower door off the track. Previous renters clothing was left in dryer.

Thanks for asking. We have rented this house out several times back to when the owner Jan, who lived next door was still alive. It has always been our favorite house to rent all along the coast , and when Jan died, we wished we could have afforded to buy it, because we would have. The only thing that I would do differently, and perhaps you've already done it, is change the mattress in the smaller room. It was or still is terribly uncomfortable.

My plans changed a couple of times due…

My plans changed a couple of times due to date changes in my schedule. This place was way more than accommodating me with that. Almost instant answers to any questions that I emailed to them. I haven't even been there yet but I know that it's going to be a wonderful experience!Thank you Vrbo!

Beautiful Resort! Booking -Traveler Beware!DO NOT BOOK THROUGH VRBO, VACAY HOME CONNECT or OWNER - BOOK DIRECTLY WITH RESORT!Hammock Beach Resort - Palm Coast:*Beautiful place with lots of family fun! Great customer service at the resort and wonderful amenities! Be careful and be sure to book with the resort directly. We booked with a private owner through VRBO and we're deceived.*The address listed on the reservation is at the Hammock Beach Resort. *The advertised price was $274 per night. It came out to almost $430 a night with all the extra fees & taxes. The owner misrepresented the property in the description of this unit., and VRBO and Vacay Home Connect allowed it, and offered no refund or alternate property.It said in the ad "Intracoastal view, private beach, etc...." It never said 5-10 minute drive to the beach for all the amenities. The receptionist at the resort let us know where it was when I called about check-in. The address on the reservation was at the Hammock Resort on the beach, so more false advertising. The receptionist also let us know that the pool was scheduled to reopen, but there was a delay. It opened during our stay.Although the condo is lovely, and the views of the harbour are pretty, it is not at the beach. This birthday beach vacation was for a family member's birthday gift and our only family mini-vacation. The fee was expensive, as a 3-night stay is more than my monthly mortgage payment. With 3 family members on teacher's salaries, and one grad student, this is a lot to spend for a condo on a canal, and the beach, big pool club, and other amenities a 10 min. drive away. There is a also a $2 toll each time you go into town.We are never using VRBO again to book vacations due to this misrepresentation and we will be sure to warn our family, friends, neighbors, or colleagues do either...

Accommodations were great

Accommodations were great! The pictures of our condo on the internet were great but it was even better in person! We had the privilege of meeting the owner when we arrived, she was very accommodating and went above and beyond for us. Could not have asked for a nicer place to stay, exceptionally clean and comfortable.

Change in policies take VRBO from best to worst

Even though we have had a listing with VRBO for five years which 1) had a fixed annual annual service fee and 2) VRBO paid us our customer payments when the customer paid them, rather than when the customer checked in, they have changed both of these policies without notice. They now 1) charge per booking, and for our high-end bookings these fees represent a ~2,500% increase in their fees, and 2) hold the owners funds until check-in, with us that is up to a year. VRBO has always been our go-to booking platform, but unfortunately these policies make it a very challenging option for owners.

I rented Driftwood on Fripp Island from Nola and Steve Wood. The house was perfect for our family. It was very clean, had plenty of towels, and beachtowels. The kitchen was very well stocked; we were able to have a low country boil while here! The hosts were very easy to work with. They answered my many questions in a very timely manner.
