Love Calm, but avoid Tamara's voice

I do love Calm, I listen to Jeff Warren and others a lot, but I find it difficult to listen to Tamara Levitt, because of her voice, that I do not like, it's bothering me so much that I cannot concentrate. That's a pity, because I miss out a lot. Thinking about a lifetime membership, but Tamara's voice is keeping me from it. She should write the texts, but let someone else read them.

I love this app

I love this app! Especially the Jeff Warren meditations they are so soothing. I love the nature sounds and the calming music. You have to really want to learn to meditate and to stick to it. I’m a naturally anxious person and this app is working for me.

There's good content in the app, but Tamara...

There's good content in the app, but really a lot of the content is narrated by Tamara Levitt. Sadly I must agree that her voice is not pleasant to listen to. I avoid anything with her in it, and that makes me miss a lot.... but I can't stand to listen to her voice.Also, I found out that many people feel this way. But they're not really doing anything about it... So wake up Tamara, you may be good at writing the stuff, but let actors or professionals narrate it please.

Now quite expensive, but great customer service

I joined up to Calm's meditation app for around £6 a year a few years ago, it was definitely worth that price, and I really enjoyed their meditations and the addition of daily themes. Part way through the year they announced they were upping the price to around £50 for a year, and after I had not received a notification that my year's subscription was up, I was automatically moved to the new price. I complained (as obviously it's quite a price hike, even with all the new features which were really good), and their customer service was absolutely brilliant and I was given a free year's subscription for the confusion. I've stopped my subscription now, as I don't feel I can afford the new price, but I still enjoy their free version of the app from time to time and have moved on to more self-guided meditation.

I am finding this app very helpful

I am finding this app very helpful, though slightly concerned about all the negative reviews! I don’t feel ripped off, but then I didn’t want to cancel after my free trail. No ads so far, it is on my phone so maybe different on a tablet? I am very positive about Calm, some of the stories are irritating but generally I think it’s good value for money, has lots of content that can be tailored to your requirements. I am in the UK and have basic membership. Thanks Calm, I think you’re great

Life Changer

I have recently retired after working for 52 years. Within 90 days of retirement I began having issues I thought were cardiac related. Turns out I was having anxiety attacks. Anxiety meds were recommended - but meds are NOT for me. I have seen the Calm App adds on television numerous times, so I decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I did. I begin and end my day with guided meditation. I have also taken 7 day courses on how to deal with anxiety. Love soundscapes - when I'm feeling anxious I simply listen to peaceful sounds of nature and I begin to calm down. This app offers a significant amount of help in many categories. What I love most is that I can access what I need within seconds. Thanks so much - I needed you and you were there.

Tamara Levitt's annoying voice

I like most of the calm app with the exception of Tamara Levitt's annoying voice, it's not calm, it's like nails on a chalkboard. It's fine if she scripts the meditation, but have someone else recite the words.

I love the music and sleep stories on…

I love the music and sleep stories on this app. Some of the masterclasses I’ve tried have been wonderful. I really enjoyed the masterclass by Elizabeth Gilbert. I would love to see more meditations by LeBron James. He has a magnificent voice for it.

It's okay but not for me

Never been one for meditation but I do like to listen to audio books in bed as they help me drift off to sleep (I set a timer). I came across this App during the UK’s 3rd lockdown and I thought I'd give meditation a try and also test out the bedtime stories. I'm doing a lot of solo walking because of Covid lockdown so thought this would be the perfect opportunity to give meditation another try. I'm afraid either meditation is still not for me or the narrators voice grated to the point I became irritated - is it Tamara? I have listened to two of the Apps bedtime stories and while they are 'okay', I find my audio books provide the same rhythm/tone and help me drift off. All in all I felt paying for this App wasn’t worth it for me as I wouldn’t be using it very often, however, if you do like to mediate and you don’t already use audio books then this App would be good value for money.Regarding cancelling the free 7 day trial period. I received an email reminding me my free trial subscription was coming to an end on day 4 and I was also informed I needed to cancel 24 hours before the free trials end (so really you are only getting 6 days free trial). Fearing I’d forget and get caught out I cancelled straightaway. Unlike other reviewers I was able to cancel my free trial subscription with just a couple of clicks on my iPhone. I went to the settings within the App, clicked on subscription and there was the cancel subscription option. After pressing cancel subscription I received a pop up message informing me my subscription was cancelled and that I had until the end of the 7 day trial period to continue using the App for free before it would stop (I screen grabbed this) – easy!!!

I cannot imagine my life without Calm app.

Since I started to use Calm I sleep much better and I fall asleep faster. I think Calm is worth its money. I use calm on a daily basis and now I cannot imagine my life without this app.
